As a part of our continued growth AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join the AECOM BC Water team. For the next couple of years the successful candidate will be based on an active construction project site in North Vancouver. Longer term this individual will be based out of the Burnaby office and work on municipal water/wastewater treatment pump stations and related infrastructure projects in all phases from planning and feasibility to detailed design construction and commissioning.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Leaning and demonstrating safe work practices on an active construction site.
Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.
Conduct daily site inspections on an active construction site reviewing work by multiple disciplines.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignment are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
May be required to create designs calculations sketches diagrams schematic drawings and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Review of technical specifications special provisions and forms of tender.
Prepare field reports and analysis to support project assignments.
Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Self manage time and communicate time constraints with the project team to successfully complete work in a schedule critical environment.
Miscellaneous tasks as required to support the high functioning multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Actively engage in professional development and industry events
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Civil Chemical or Industrial)
Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in the province of BC.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with municipal water/wastewater treatment plant or equivalent experience
Experience working on a construction site or in an industrial setting
Demonstrated communication skills through publications presentations and work
Strong organizational interpersonal problem solving and analytical skills
Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include Revit Plant3D AutoCAD BioWin GIS Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficient using common software packages (Excel Word MS Project PowerPoint)
Experience with project management concepts principles and duties
