Essential Functions: - Manage (along with the CFO) the purchase/lease and sale of all school buses and other school vehicles.
- Maintain all school vehicles including license plates titles registrations and repairs.
- Oversee authorized drivers of school vehicles.
- Maintain accurate record keeping for transportation service fees incident/accident reports and other necessary transportation data.
- Responsible for hiring and maintaining appropriate staffing levels in the transportation department.
- Train supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; maintain and approve digital timecards.
- Ensure all school vehicle drivers maintain valid state and federal credentials.
- Assign drivers to routes and buses; arrange for and schedule substitute drivers.
- Plan and coordinate the scheduling and routing of student pick up and drop off runs transportation of students to and from athletic events field trips and special events. This includes maintaining an up-to-date list of students transported on each bus and adjusting routes or schedules based on numbers of students being served.
- Develop and distribute safety training programs and materials to be shared with families students and community members regarding safe practices at bus stops while on school buses and when transferring to/from buses.
- Communicate with the parental community and administrators regarding changes in transportation.
- Ensure consistent behavior-management responses aligned with school policy to maintain the safety of transportation staff and passengers.
- Evaluate safety of road conditions during inclement weather and provide timely information to decision makers.
- Other duties as assigned.
