The University of South Florida (USF) a member of the American Athletic Conference is currently accepting applications for the position of Motion Graphic Designer. The position will be housed in the athletics external services department while reporting to the Senior Graphic Designer. The selected candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment to deliver creative motion graphic assets for in game production as well as digital and social media applications. Position will work with other design staff to advance and maintain brand identity through original and creative content. Candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment to advance the brand of USF Athletics and the university.
Reporting to the Senior Graphic Designer the USF Athletics Motion Graphic Designer candidate will be responsible for concept design and production of motion graphic elements for LED features video content and scoreboard related content across various sports programs. As part of the creative team you will collaborate and support best practices in whats new and next in motion graphics design. This individual will contribute to establishing and maintaining a consistent brand identity by coordinating with the design and video teams. They will be encouraged to explore creative boundaries to enhance the brand and participate in brainstorming innovative approaches for the motion graphics solutions for the campaigns and design concepts. The ideal candidate will have a solid record of motion graphics design work a good understanding of sports and entertainment best practices and awareness of motion graphics design trends in live events and the digital landscape. This role requires attention to detail good organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to adapt in the dynamic environment of sports/entertainment. Adheres to all NCAA Conference and University rules and regulations. May be required to work non-traditional work hours in the evenings and/or weekends as assigned.
Establishes oversees and develops motion graphic design projects from concept to delivery including but not limited to: animations for videos game presentation features in-venue experience LED animations and any other graphical elements as necessary for creative distribution. Executes a consistent visual identity through all motion design work for the department as well as ensure compliance with University Brand Standards.
Creates original motion designs for assigned projects by determining information flow content layout use of graphics typography color etc. based upon available space knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic. Stays abreast of new techniques and technology related to motion design.
Assists with production shoots including creating shot lists and ensuring correct collateral is captured for use in in-venue as well as on social and digital content.
Candidate must be able to present concepts with storyboards references sample animations and/or any other graphic design sample work
Candidate will be responsible for fact checking research and art/video consistency for their respective projects.
Candidate must have extensive experience in graphic design and intermediate video editing
Assists in planning work performed by the office; makes recommendations concerning scheduling time requirements and other similar functions. Assists in training new staff & interns.
Assist with other static design needs based on overall team workload.
Performs other duties as assigned. (This would include file management organization of content across many different platforms and software etc.)
Skills & Experience:
Candidate must be proficient in all aspects of video post-production including (but not limited to) Adobe After Effects Cinema 4D Blender Illustrator Photoshop and any associated plug-ins
Candidate must possess intermediate editing skills with Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Candidate MUST be able to supply web-links to completed work demo reels or any other content which validates their application and work experience
Must submit strong portfolio showcasing current work
Bachelors degree in graphic design animation or related field with two years of experience in related positions; or a Masters degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Four years relevant experience with motion graphics in college or professional athletics is preferred.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
