Lifeguards-Seasonal 2026

Staunton Parks & Recreation is accepting applications for summer lifeguards. Must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certification; YMCA Lifeguard Certification; or ELLIS. If not must be willing and able to obtain certification.

Your Role:

Lifeguard ($15.00 per hour). Duties will include but not be limited to:

Individual will provide a safe swimming environment; enforce rules; rescue anyone in danger of drowning; administer first aide administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and/or Automated External Defibrillator as needed. Additionally lifeguards are expected to maintain the cleanliness of the aquatic facility and perform basic landscaping duties.

Perform other job duties requiring skills knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

Pool Staff ($13.61 per hour). Duties will include but not be limited to:

Working and operating admissions gate to the pool facility. Operate a cash register handle and log daily revenues. Aid in the cleaning and maintenance of pool facility and grounds. Assist with customer needs and answer questions.

Submission to a background check is required by all candidates.

Red Cross lifeguarding recertification class Saturday May 16^th

Red Cross lifeguarding class Sunday May 17^th Friday May 22^nd

Orientation day Thursday May 21^st

Start date no later than May 20^th 2026.
