Overview
Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Physics. Appointment at the Associate Professor level will be considered for the qualified candidate
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture) required; General Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture); advanced courses within the candidates area of expertise.
- Advisement: Undergraduate student academic advisement
- Service: As required to further the Mission regarding the Department University and Community including but not limited to textbook selection course and lab design committee work.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience
- Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry required.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry required.
- Proven (peer-reviewed publication presentations etc.) track record of research involving undergraduate students is required.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students faculty and colleagues required.
- Familiarity in online learning platforms including Banner Canvas Blackboard & Adobe Connect required
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal) required
- Familiarity with chemical laboratory safety issues
- Ability to design and implement novel teaching lab modalities
- Ability to set up and maintain a research program involving undergraduate students.
Travel
- The position is located mainly at our Brooklyn campus. Occasional teaching at our other undergraduate campuses in the New York are is expected.
