The College of Western Idaho is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor to teach Surgical Technology students in both classroom and clinical this role you will prepare students to confidently support surgical teams by guiding them in operating room protocols instrumentation sterile technique patient preparation and intraoperative care. Youll bring your current industry expertise into the learning environment ensuring students graduate workforce-ready and aligned with professional standards.

This position supports the Fall and Spring semesters for the 202627 academic year.

Responsibilities:

Deliver High-Quality Instruction that Prepares Students for the Operating Room

  • Teach assigned credit load in alignment with course descriptions and program outcomes.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in surgical procedures instrumentation sterile technique draping patient positioning specimen handling and perioperative care.
  • Integrate instructional technology and learning management systems to enhance student engagement.
  • Maintain timely and consistent class meetings communicating any changes appropriately.

Foster Student Success and Professional Readiness

  • Monitor assess and document student progress using established outcomes assessment measures.
  • Provide constructive feedback that supports skill development and professional growth.
  • Participate in instructional evaluation processes to continuously strengthen teaching effectiveness.
  • Model professionalism ethical standards and operating room best practices.

Support a Supportive and Accountable Learning Environment

  • Create a respectful classroom and clinical environment that supports students
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to institutional deadlines and policies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development and industry relevance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential awarded by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBTSSA).
  • Minimum of two (2) years documented work experience in an operating room scrub role within the last five (5) years (one year of instructional experience may substitute for one year of work experience).
  • Proficiency with internet email word processing spreadsheets presentation software and Blackboard applications.
  • Experience using instructional technology preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.

Additional Instructions for Applicants:

* This position is for the Fall and Spring semesters 2026-27.

**Successful candidates are required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
