Position Overview
Seeking experienced Certified Surgical Technologists for an Adult Operating Room in a high-acuity trauma and teaching hospital environment. Candidates must be confident working in fast-paced surgical settings with diverse and complex case types.
Shift Structure
Schedule may include a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts such as:
07:00 15:30
11:00 19:30
15:00 23:30
07:00 19:30
11:00 23:30
Evening shift availability is required.
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of recent experience (within the last 4 years) in:
Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center
Teaching hospital
Comparable acute care facility
Strong scrub experience required
Experience in:
Trauma
Orthopedics
General Surgery
ENT
Vascular
GYN
Neurosurgery
Bariatric
GU
First-time travelers will only be considered if they have worked in hospitals of similar size and acuity.
Note: First Assist duties are not permitted under New York State regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Maintain sterile field in accordance with hospital and AORN standards
Prepare OR with required instruments and specialty equipment
Pass instruments and anticipate surgeon needs
Assist with counts of sponges sharps and instruments
Support trauma and specialty surgical procedures
Operate surgical equipment lights suction and specialty devices
Ensure equipment readiness and functionality
Assist with patient positioning and safe intraoperative practices
Participate in room turnover and case preparation
Maintain professional communication within interdisciplinary teams
Qualifications
Must hold current CST certification
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
No history of suspended or investigated professional license/certification
Must pass pre-employment health clearance
Ability to function with minimal orientation and supervision in a high-acuity setting
