Backend Engineer AI Agent

What you can expect
We are looking for an AI Agent Engineer to join our team and help build the backend foundation for AI powered product this role youll work closely with frontend engineers and product managers to develop features that bring the power of AI into real user workflows. Develop and maintain scalable secure backend services supporting AI-driven interactions in content creation automation and collaboration.

About the Team
With eight specialized departments the engineering team functions as a highly collaborative diverse powerhouse. Each department mission is to deliver seamless and innovative communication solutions. These range from software development and machine learning to quality assurance teams that work to create and maintain Zooms user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure. The team continues to push the boundaries of communication technology bringing people together regardless of their physical distance.

Responsibilities

• Building next-generation AI First products for AI Docs and AI Office

• Exploring Agent Reasoning and Agentic RAG technologies optimize Deep Research patterns for complex queries achieve long-text understanding and cross-document information integration

• Being responsible for the design development and maintenance of AI application backend systems ensuring high availability scalability and performance

• Building AI APIs/Agents and related services integrating AI capabilities into core products.

• Ensuring observability reliability and security of AI services.

• Participating in architecture reviews technical design and code reviews to maintain high engineering quality standards.

• Exploring continuously and introduce new technologies and frameworks to optimize product experiences in AI scenarios.

What were looking for

• Have Bachelors or above in Computer Science Software Engineering or related fields.

• 3 years of backend development experience proficient in mainstream languages such as Go/Python/ with knowledge of distributed systems microservice architecture databases caching and cloud-native technologies.

• Have Deep understanding and practical experience with Agents familiar with mainstream Agent frameworks such as LangChain LangGraph AutoGen etc.

• Have excellent problem analysis and solving abilities deep sense of responsibility and ownership; ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (AI frontend product).

• Have experience with online document/Office-related AI applications preferred

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
