The Reading Specialist Tutor will work with small groups and individual students to build foundational reading skills improve reading fluency and comprehension and support differentiated literacy needs across the academic program. The tutor will collaborate with classroom teachers and Student Services staff to align interventions with curriculum and student is a temporary parttime position intended to provide supplemental support during the remainder of the 202526 school year. Continuation may be considered pending program success and ResponsibilitiesStudent Literacy SupportDeliver direct instruction to individual students or small groups using researchbased reading interventions. Diagnose reading skill deficits and develop individualized or smallgroup intervention assessments to determine students reading levels and monitor progress over accurate records of student progress and adjust instruction as needed. Collaboration & CommunicationConsult with classroom teachers to coordinate reading support and align strategies with contentarea in meetings with teachers families and support staff as needed to share progress updates and discuss regularly with supervising staff to ensure interventions align with schoolwide literacy Preparation & MaterialsDevelop individualized skillappropriate lesson plans and maintain educational materials. Implement structured researchbased intervention programs with fidelity. Other ResponsibilitiesEscort students to and from sessions as needed and ensure a safe session environment. Attend required training or checkins with supervising degree in Education English Literacy or related field. Masters degree tutor experience required; reading specialist experience experience teaching reading or implementing reading to work independently and collaboratively with teachers and school staff. Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with DESE Licensure required for Reading SpecialistsExperience with OrtonGillingham Wilson Reading or other structured literacy experience supporting students with learning differences including clearancePreference will be given to candidates who meet all of the requirements above and:Are multilingual including in Spanish and English;Have designed and successfully implemented a culturally responsive curriculum;Have similar life experiences as our students;Have a Masters PhD or EdD degree;Have National Board Certification.
