Job Summary
The City of Pueblo is seeking POST certified candidates to be its next Court Marshal! As the Court Marshal in the Municipal Court youll maintain order decorum and security in the courtroom and building arrest and escort persons out upon the judges direction detrain and supervise defendants awaiting transport to county jail and transport prisoner to jails. Youll also track court inmate census execute arrest warrants within the Municipal Court serve legal processes deliver warrants and subpoenas to the Police Department and supervise the jury as necessary. Qualifications :
- A high school diploma GED or higher education (Associate Degree or higher preferred);
- Certification of proficiency for use of a firearm currently trained in arrest control driving and taser;
- Be currently POST certified in State of Colorado; and
- A valid drivers license at the time of application and a valid Colorado drivers license within 30 days of employment
- License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business such as an interlock will be cause for disqualification
- During the course of employment a valid license must be maintained and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license
Preferred Qualification: Three (3) years of experience in law enforcement detention security or related field.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The duties of this position are primarily performed in an indoor environment with occasional outdoor work. When working outdoors the employee may work in and around traffic severe weather conditions including rain snow and wind. Works around other hazards/dangers inherent to work near and around vehicular traffic. Individuals may be required to work evenings and weekends. Individuals must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Basic first aid CPR and AED certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in termination.
Due to Federal State and local Criminal Justice System access requirements classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required as a condition of employment not to have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime or engaged in any other behavior that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.
