Job Summary

Position Description

Position Overview:

Under general supervision maintains repairs and installs all types of door hardware on County property.

Job Duties:

Picks drills repairs replaces and/or installs all types of door hardware in a neat orderly and timely manner.
Must be able to troubleshoot repair and install all door security devices.
Must demonstrate usual and customary care of tools and equipment and maintain safe working conditions.
Prepares and provides timely and accurate records.
May be required to drive personal or county vehicles to various work sites.
Will be required to be on-call after hours on a rotational basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Operate the key engraving machine HPC and duplicate key machines BEST keypunches.
Pin A2 A3 and CORMAX cores.
Ensure compliance with all applicable NFPA ADA and IBC codes.
Check keys in and out using the key management database. Process key requests cut new keys and enter data.

Requirements

Education:

High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience/general knowledge in commercial and/or residential lock work

Knowledge Skill & Abilities (KSAs):

Must maintain a valid Texas Drivers License.
Must maintain courteous helpful behavior at all times.
Must communicate diplomatically on a routine basis with elected and appointed officials contractors vendors and tenants.
Must have a good command of the English language and good knowledge of filing spelling and math.
Must understand and operate all key-related machinery including all key duplicator and/or code-cutting machines and all locking installing equipment.
Must be computer literate.
Must understand and follow blueprints and oral and written instructions with a basic understanding of electronics and /or electrical door controls.
A general working knowledge of the maintenance and repair of security systems fire systems and access control systems is preferred.
Must pass security checks and drug tests as required. This position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

Full-Time Regular 40 hours per week.

Subject to early mornings late evenings weekends and holidays at times depending upon the project or workload.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience based on 26 pay periods.

Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure:

Most assignments will be performed in an office meeting or operations command center environment but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event).

This position requires bending stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. frequent walking standing sitting reaching and ascending/descending stairs.
