Context of Job:
The Post Doctoral Researcher will work withthe Center for Neutron Science withProf. Norman Wagner of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the University of Delaware along withinstrumentscientistsand engineers from NISTon a project with the National Science Foundation to complete the warm commissioning of the new Neutron Spin Echo (NSE) instrumentand conduct research along with a doctoral student on polymer nanocomposites.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct scientific research utilizing a range of experimental characterization techniqueswith the focus on Neutron Spin Echoand allied neutron scattering can involve travel to beamline facilities other than NIST.
- Supervise undergraduate researcher(s).
- Complete data acquisition manuals andtechnical reportswith the guidance of the PI and instrument scientists
- Responsible for data management analysis and presentation of results tosponsorsand at relevant scientific conferences.
- Assist in the design execution and analysis of NSE experiments at the NCNR.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a related field such as engineering materials science physics or chemistry is required.
- Expertise in one or more of the following experimental techniques particularly in relation tosoft matter: neutron x-ray and/orlight scattering x-ray scattering.
- Experience in laboratory methods of physical property characterization techniques designing experiments and handling ofchemicalsand polymermaterials.
