About the Role
As Medical Director you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care. Key responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations diagnosing mental health conditions and developing individualized treatment recommendations. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on hospital admissions and discharge planning and participate in case consultations.
What you need to be successful
Successful candidates will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric and medical management principles particularly in the treatment of individuals with serious mental illness along with a strong understanding of psychotropic medications and their therapeutic applications. They will possess working knowledge of applicable laws regulations and legal procedures governing mental health treatment and exhibit proficiency in crisis intervention assessment and the treatment of mental health substance use and co-occurring disorders. Additionally candidates must have excellent communication skills including the ability to prepare clear and complex clinical documentation while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
To qualify for this position applicants must have the following:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree with a specialty in Psychiatry
- Current valid license to practice psychiatry in the Commonwealth of Virginia including Virginia Controlled Substance Registration and active DEA registration
- Board certification in Psychiatry
- Clinical and/or hospital-based experience serving individuals with mental illness
