1.0 FTE Learning Resource Centre Teacher - Maternity Leave Contract Start Date: August 31 2026

St. Thomas More Collegiate a progressive co-ed Blessed Edmund Rice Christian Brother Catholic Independent high school in Burnaby B.C. is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a Learning Resource Teacher to cover a maternity leave for one full school year. Our LR program is dedicated to inclusive education and enrolls approximately 70 students from grade 8-12. The very ethos of our program provides academic and executive function support to instill confidence that enables our graduates to select from a range of post-secondary options. The successful candidate will be a dynamic collaborative inspirational tech-savvy educator with experience working with students who have diagnosed learning differences.

The Learning Resource Teacher is responsible for working collaboratively with the LR Coordinator overseeing managing and planning aspects of our LRC program and for providing academic oversight for our students and instructional coaching for our teaching faculty.

Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in Learning Resource programs or departments a Bachelors Degree in Education and experience with students with diagnosed learning differences and neurodivergence.

Potential candidates must be a member or be in the process of becoming a member of the British Columbia College of Teachers or hold a BC Independent School Teachers Certificate.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate
• Possess a Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Education or Special Education or any other related field of study.
• Current knowledge and experience working with students with both high and low incidence disabilities.
• Be familiar with and able to implement and develop IEPs; maintaining updating and keeping student files current;
• An interest in and experience with the unique learning and developmental needs of students with designated learning differences
• Have experience differentiating instruction to meet specific learning profiles
• Understand how to read and interpret psycho-educational assessments
• Work well in a team sharing knowledge expertise and communicate often with colleagues to create a cohesive learning environment
• Knowledge of assistive technology
• Additional qualifications as per Special Education Services: a Manual of Policies Procedures and Guidelines
• Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch
