Please read below for additional details and let us know if you have the skills and experience we are looking for by submitting your the Position:This position is accountable for the management and coordination of staff and activities in the Surrey Education & Adoption Centre the Surrey Cat Seizure Facility and the Good Shepherd Barn (GSB) itself as well as liaison with fosters/boarding facilities around the province. This position ensures the operating budget of these locations is adhered to and provides overall optimum care for the animals within the assigned area of responsibility. This position will also develop and maintain relationships within the community promoting public awareness of these locations and their services. You will promote the BC SPCAs mission and implement provincial initiatives within the facilities and surrounding community. You are also responsible for the health and safety of staff and volunteers as well as maintaining a clean and safe environment for the public. Some specific duties:Leadership & Supervision:Responsible for the direct supervision and leadership of staff and volunteers by providing on-going training direction and coaching. This includes but is not limited to:Assisting with onboarding and ongoing training;Providing timely feedback;Addressing performance concerns;Troubleshooting staff and volunteer-related issues;Assisting with the completion of annual performance reviews for staff;Recognition; andAdministration of as a champion of the BC SPCA Health & Safety program ensuring that safe work practices are implemented and are being carried out to protect staff volunteers and animals from injury and/or as a conduit of information by communicating both internally and externally as schedule for GSB and ensure adequate staffing levels based on animal population in the the implementation of high customer service standards through training and coaching and monitor overall customer compliance with all BC SPCA policies and and implement workshops and orientations relating to equine and farm animals for in preparing an annual budget for the Provincial Equine and Farm Animal Foster Program (PEFAFP) including annual revenue operating and capital Development & Management:Create and maintain evidence based BC SPCA programs policies procedures and forms related to equine and farm animal care with support from Animal Health Welfare and Behaviour. Ensure the well-being of animals in BC SPCA care is maintained in accordance with policies and procedures related to animal health welfare and the pathway for equine and farm animals in BC SPCA care on a regular basis to ensure a reduced length of stay and maintain capacity for the transfer of equine and farm animals as guidance in determining suitability of potential animal adoptive homes for the purposes of best possible match between adopter and expertise to all branches in the Province including Nanaimo and Kelowna barns in order to maintain the standard of health and welfare that is required for all farm animals in accordance with BC SPCA and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders such as the equine community boarding facilities foster homes large animal transport contractors farm animal care professionals and and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders such as the equine community boarding facilities foster homes large animal transport contractors farm animal care professionals and :Facility and grounds and oversee maintenance of farm vehicles as and implement local and passive provincial fund-raising in meetings and on committees as you need to have:Post-secondary education in an applicable field plus a minimum of 5 years related experience (3 of which must be in a supervisory role) or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer. Related experience includes but is not limited to:Working in animal welfareWorking in the non-profit sector with familiarity with fundraising and volunteer management/relationsScheduling and financial managementDirect equine and farm animal care (minimum 3 years);Positive reinforcement handling/training;Customer service;Budget management;Policy writing and program visionary leader with the ability to inspire people to achieve great thingsMust have genuine compassion for animals and sound knowledge of the Five Freedoms and related animal welfare standardsDemonstrated ability to organize work meet priorities and to work within a demanding work schedules with minimal supervisionExcellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a positive mannerExcellent presentation and public speaking skillsMust have a Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers License and drivers experience managing in a unionized environment would be an assetComputer skills Windows MS Office incl.
