This is a 10-month/renewable position that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.

New hires typically begin at Step 1 on the Salary Schedule.

TITLE:Technology Specialist

SUPERVISOR: Director of Technology

JOB TYPE:Classified Position 1.0 FTE (8 hours per day 7.5 hours per day 30 min paid lunch)

SUMMARY:This position assists the Director of Technology in providing technology support and maintenance for the districts technology infrastructure and assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Valid Oregon Drivers License.
  • Preferred: A Certification OR Associates OR Bachelors Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science.
  • Preferred: Considerable knowledge/training in the practices procedures equipment and materials used in the maintenance installation and repair of computer systems/networks.
  • Preferred: Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices and precautions.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of student information systems and educational platforms Oregon Department of Education state reporting and asset and data management.
  • Experience preferred but not required. The district is willing to train someone with a great attitude and a willingness to learn!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs technical work of a recurring nature within established methods practices and procedures under general supervision of the District Technology Supervisor.
  • Assist staff with troubleshooting and questions on student information systems. Create and maintain user roles within the student information systems.
  • Responsible for annual software and program renewals; creating purchase orders and managing invoices.
  • Asset management; maintain inventory and storage of parts and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand instruction manuals and directions.
  • Complete delegate and monitor all required Oregon Department of Education state reports.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and records.
  • Provides instruction to users on software applications.
  • Maintain user accounts on all district programs and educational platforms.
  • Manage helpdesk ticket system and communicate needs to the Director of Technology.
  • Report immediately to the Technology Director any theft or damage to school property.
  • Keep an inventory of equipment.
  • Conduct an on-going program of general maintenance upkeep and repair.
  • Comply with federal state and local laws with regard to technology and security.
  • Participate in periodic inspections and tests of all installations in the school to insure their safe condition.
  • Travel between buildings via personal or district vehicle to assist at all three schools.
  • Collaboratively work with staff and students to solve computer student information systems and educational platform related issues.

PHYSICAL/WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Safety equipment is available to be used.
  • Exposure to electricity noise heat cold hot and cold surfaces.
  • Requires coordination and dexterity and the repetitive use of hands and arms while keyboarding.
  • May include solvent or chemical smells.
  • Work environment is primarily in a school building environment and may include work performed outdoors.

  • Experience and familiarity with current technology trends and issues.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues.
  • Willingness to implement and learn new technology.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to organize and maintain efficient time schedule.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff students and the public.
  • Good communication organization and computer skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task except for temporary disability.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills in order to work collaboratively with a variety of school personnel as well as parents of students with disabilities and/or unique needs.

This is a 10-month position.

TBD based classified salary schedule

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
