Position Summary
The Instructional Designer supports the strategic growth of eSpelman by designing developing and continuously improving high-quality online courses and programs for adult learners. This role collaborates closely with faculty subject-matter experts and internal stakeholders to create engaging accessible and outcomes-driven learning experiences for both credit-bearing and non-credit online offerings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Design build and revise fully online and hybrid courses for adult learners using evidence-based instructional design practices. Partner with faculty and subject-matter experts to align course content with learning outcomes assessments and institutional standards. Develop learning activities multimedia content assessments and rubrics that support learner engagement and success. Utilize learning management systems such as Canvas Blackboard or Moodle. Apply accessibility standards ( ADA WCAG 2.1) and Quality Matters or comparable frameworks. Provide training and support to faculty on instructional technologies and online pedagogy. Use learner data and feedback to recommend continuous improvements.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: sit walk use hands to handle office supplies operate computer and other office equipment talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to: reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to: stand stoop climb and lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Instructional Design Educational Technology Learning Sciences Higher Education or related field. 35 years of experience designing online courses for adult learners or higher education. Proficiency with tools such as Articulate 360 Adobe Captivate Camtasia Panopto or similar. Strong project management and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a private or liberal arts college environment. Experience with non-credit or workforce education programs. Familiarity with AI-enabled instructional design tools.
