Applied Account Manager Microbiology Division (MBD)
Territory: Triveneto & part of Emilia-Romagna (Italy) Field-based

Within the Specialty Diagnostics Group the Microbiology Division (MBD) provides trusted microbiology solutions for industrial applications supporting the detection of bacterial contamination and ensuring product safety and quality. Our customers include pharmaceutical companies food and beverage manufacturers public health and environmental testing organizations. Our portfolio includes culture media antimicrobial susceptibility testing solutions and market-leading molecular technologies for food safety testing.
We are looking for a motivated Applied Account Manager to join our Italian commercial team and develop a successful career within a global life sciences organization.
Reporting to the Southern Europe Sales Manager this is a field-based position covering the Triveneto area and part of Emilia-Romagna. The role holder will be responsible for achieving sales objectives across the assigned territory while maximizing profitability through effective account management territory planning and structured customer engagement.
The role is highly customer-facing with approximately 80% of time spent on-site with customers requiring frequent travel within the territory and occasional travel at a European level.
Achieve and exceed sales targets within the assigned territory
Manage pricing and quotations in line with company policies and commercial guidelines
Plan and execute a high level of customer-facing activity including visits technical-commercial discussions and follow-ups
Position Thermo Fisher Scientific Microbiology as a strategic and trusted partner for industrial customers particularly within the pharmaceutical and food sectors
Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships
Accurately report sales activities pipeline development and market insights using the CRM system
Collaborate closely with internal Thermo Fisher Scientific colleagues across sales marketing and technical functions
Degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology Biomedical Science or Biological Sciences
Relevant hands-on laboratory experience
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Minimum 3 years of commercial experience within Industrial Microbiology or related life sciences markets
Experience or strong understanding of the Food Safety Molecular Testing market is considered a plus
Strong motivation for a customer-facing solution-oriented sales role
Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory
Full and valid Italian driving licence
Excellent verbal and face-to-face communication skills
Proven track record of achievement in previous roles
Confident outgoing and professional attitude with the ability to engage effectively in one-to-one meetings exhibitions and formal presentations
Residence within the territory or willingness to relocate within 3 months
