SUMMARY
Teaches and models for Classroom Teachers the most effective research-based instructional methodologies designed to specifically address the needs of students developing proficiency in a second language. Works with Principals to promote the best practices for teaching content and language arts to students acquiring a second language and to ensure that all English Language Learners (ELL) receive English Language Development (ELD) instruction as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and/or experience as a trainer in the Essential Elements of Instruction or willingness to complete this requirement within one year
Knowledge of and/or experience as a trainer in the most recent Arizona State Standards (including the Common Core Standards) or willingness to complete this requirement within one year.
Arizona Teaching Certification with Structured English Immersion (SEI) or Bilingual Endorsement (BE) or English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement.
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
A Masters Degree in Curriculum Teaching Educational Administration English or a related field
OR
Six years of teaching experience in ESL or Bilingual classes
Experience presenting or facilitating staff development sessions on such topics as SEI programs or ESL methodologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as a Language Acquisition Coach.
Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students.
Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.

LOCATION:Language Acquisition-1010 E 10th Street
FTE :1.0 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar:9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.For more information on salary schedule please reference theEmployee Agreements Webpage.
Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
