The Office of Transgender Initiatives is seeking a passionate and experienced Outreach Manager to lead strategic outreach initiatives that provide help vital information and connect San Franciscos transgender and gender diverse (TGD) communities to resources and support. This role is responsible for leading the offices outreach strategy producing outreach materials managing digital communication for the office while also supporting office operations and community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
In-person Outreach and Community Engagement
- Assist in the planning and execution of community programs events and public forums.
- Serve as a liaison to community-based organizations and stakeholders.
- Support outreach efforts to promote city services and initiatives that serve TGNCI residents.
Virtual Outreach and Digital Media
- Maintain and update the Offices website with timely relevant and accessible content.
- Plan create and manage social media campaigns that reflect the values and priorities of the TGNCI community and help keep the community informed;
- Draft edit and distribute monthly calendar office newsletter weekly trans news updates PSA style info graphics and public statements.
- Monitor media coverage and maintain relationships with press and community media outlets.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide scheduling and calendar support for senior staff.
- Assist with office management tasks including supply coordination vendor communication and general administrative support.
- Support internal communications and ensure alignment across city departments and community partners.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Possession of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience:
One (1) year full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level administrative duties in functional areas such as: program/office/operations management budget development and/or administration development and administration of contractual agreements and/or grants or other closely related functional areas.
Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience performing professional-level administrative duties in functional areas such as: program/office/operations management budget development and/or ad-ministration or contract/grant administration may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units.
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working with or serving transgender gender nonconforming and intersex communities.
- Familiarity with trans-serving organizations and community networks in San Francisco.
- Cultural humility and a deep understanding of equity and inclusion principles.
- Experience with community engagement especially in government or nonprofit settings.
- Knowledge of analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics social media insights) is a plus.
- Exceptional researching writing editing and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in website CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress) social media tools and basic graphic design.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Selection Procedures: The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the interview. Depending on the number of applicants the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited to participate in the next stage of the selection process. The stated desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring
