The primary purpose of the role is to ensure the delivery of the UK/I Property and Terrorism & Terrorism plan both from a written premium and a profitability perspective. Written premium includes Property and Terrorism income derived from all UKI Property and Terrorism monoline package and Industry Practices policies and will therefore require engagement across all areas in which Property and Terrorism is written.
The requires close interaction with product line (COG) management and regional/branch managers to ensure appetite is understood and communicated and underwriters are appropriately empowered to meet plan.
Working closely with regional managers a key function is to ensure that rate retention and new business numbers are planned and forecast accurately and that monthly production targets are met. Delivery and execution of the financial plan is a critical responsibility for this role. Also that accurate data is input into the annual planning process.
You will also be responsible for working with COG to agree appropriate underwriting strategy for the UK/I and updating local underwriting authorities to reflect this. You will be expected to track the market and monitor any developments (adverse or positive) and react accordingly.
As part of the portfolio management process you will be required to work with actuarial to deliver the annual Portfolio Review and take responsibility for delivery of the action plan.
The role will also require a visible external profile. Primarily this will focus on driving retention and growth with brokers (National Independent Growth and New Ground) and engaging in appropriate account allocation and pipeline activity across all segments (Global and Middle Market SME and DCI). An important secondary function is to raise Chubbs profile as an industry expert for Property and Terrorism. This will require a willingness and ability to speak at client broker and industry forums.
You will be responsible for a team of underwriters and will need to bring appropriate leadership and management qualities to the role. This will include the requirement to manage people by distance and also to visit branches and work with regional managers and local underwriters as appropriate.
