Job Summary

ESS delivers the best hospitality and support services to remote and Defence sites across Australia. From mess halls and accommodation to gyms pools and recreation facilities our teams keep Defence communities running smoothly every day.

ESS part of Compass Group provides integrated hospitality and support services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). We are currently seeking dedicated safetyminded and customerfocused Cleaners to join our onbase Defence operations across Singleton Lone Pine Barracks Newcastle and RAAF Williamtown playing a vital role in maintaining clean safe and professional environments for Defence personnel.

Catering Cleaning & Kitchen Responsibilities:

Provide welcoming and efficient hospitality service in ADF mess halls and dining facilities
Assist with basic food preparation plating and meal service
Operate tills or support café service where required
Wash sanitise and store crockery cutlery and kitchen equipment
Operate commercial dishwashers and maintain clean kitchen environments
Assist with stock rotation and storage
Follow strict food safety hygiene and Defence security standards

About you:

You may be suited to this role if you bring experience in fitness aquatic services hospitality or facilities support along with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Experience managing staff rosters attendance and performance (where applicable)
No experience in catering kitchen hand or hospitality
Friendly reliable and professional with strong communication skills
Comfortable working in structured high-compliance Defence environments
Current Australian Drivers Licence and reliable transport (some sites may require travel)
Strong commitment to safety teamwork and operational excellence
Australian Citizenship is mandatory (Defence security clearance required)
Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Defence clearance
