Role Information
The Pastoral Support Officer will work closely with Heads of Year the Safeguarding Lead SENCO and teaching staff to provide day-to-day support for pupils experiencing behavioural emotional or social difficulties.
Key responsibilities include managing pupil behaviour interventions monitoring pastoral referrals liaising with families supporting restorative conversations keeping accurate pastoral records and assisting with safeguarding processes.
You will deliver targeted 1:1 and group support sessions help pupils re-engage with learning manage pastoral spaces support crisis situations and contribute to multi-agency meetings when necessary.
The role requires empathy firmness excellent communication and the ability to build trust with young people while maintaining professional boundaries.
Requirements
Experience in pastoral support youth work mentoring safeguarding or behaviour support
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Confident managing challenging behaviour
Excellent record-keeping and organisational abilities
Calm resilient patient and solution-focused
Ability to work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams
