Job Summary

Create and maintain the pipelines for publishing code to Azure
Oversee and coach squads in intra-day deployments mechanisms
As part of the chapter drive the DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads
With the aid of the chapter coach and influence engineers to DevOps maturity
Oversee and direct the vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources
Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across all environments
Propose and implement time-saving initiatives
Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure app data)
Monitor issues and availability and ensure the correct escalation path is followed
Monitor performance and propose improvements
Work closely with the other LM Infrastructure & DevOps chapter members to agree on best practices around how we use our cloud subscriptions ensuring resources are properly tagged conventionally named and monitored for performance security and cost
Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment
On a day-to-day basis working alongside engineers pairing and collaborating as necessary. Working in an Agile manner
Help to commoditise cloud services where possible
Identify engineering limits bottlenecks and tipping points before theyre reached
Actively participate in incident management problem resolution and root cause analysis scenarios
Knowledge share and collaborate with the wider Hiscox engineers and Cloud Infrastructure team members to share failures successes and best practices

Mandatory skillset:

Experience of working as a DevOps engineer working on solutions in Azure or hybrid cloud. Preferably with Azure DevOps.
Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates
Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines
Knowledge of Cloud native microservices containerized systems preferably with Microsoft Azure
To have a strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working
