A Brief OverviewThe Director - IT McKennan provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital information technology driving alignment between clinical and business priorities and IT services. This role oversees budgeting and financial management vendor and contract governance service level performance and the successful delivery of technology initiatives and support The director partners with hospital and system executives to plan prioritize and execute multi-year roadmaps that enhance patient care operational efficiency and regulatory compliance across the Avera McKennan Region.
What you will do
- Strategic Leadership & Planning: Partner with hospital leadership to align IT strategy with clinical and business priorities. Develop and execute multi-year technology roadmaps and strategic initiatives. Align IT investments with organizational priorities financial plans and clinical initiatives Anticipate regulatory technological and organizational changes to adjust IT strategies. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on emerging technologies digital transformation and healthcare IT trends.
- Financial & Vendor Management: Participate in annual budgeting and financial stewardship for IT. Partner for vendor and contract governance including negotiation compliance and renewals. Evaluate and select new technologies to support operational and strategic goals.
- Governance & Risk Management: Collaborate on IT governance processes including change management. Partner to ensure cybersecurity HIPAA compliance and risk mitigation strategies are in place. Communicate disaster recovery and business continuity readiness plans. Oversee the regional IT project portfolio ensuring alignment with strategy timelines budgets and expected outcomes. Coordinate IT support for hospital projects such as new facilities expansions renovations and service line growth.
- Operational Excellence: Direct IT operations supporting McKennan Regions on incident management infrastructure applications end-user support and clinical systems. Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) for performance and availability. Drive process improvements and accountability measures across IT services.
- Relationship & Communication: Facilitate communication between system IT and hospital leadership. Provide executive-level reporting on IT plans status risks and outcomes. Coach leaders on effective engagement with IT to improve outcomes.
- Team Development: Facilitate teamwork across IT and business units to ensure alignment and team goals. Conduct regular communication points to provide feedback and foster growth. Promote a collaborative inclusive and innovative team culture.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Bachelors in Information Technology Computer Science Business or related field.
- 10 years experience with a record of progressive accountability people process and technology.
