Overview
Join our client as a Medical Assistant where you will provide essential scheduling and administrative support in a fast paced clinical setting.
This role supports the daily operations of an orthopedic office by managing surgical schedules communicating with patients and clinical teams and ensuring all pre- and post-operative requirements are completed accurately and on time. It requires strong administrative skills attention to detail and excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and maintain all orthopedic surgical scheduling in collaboration with providers operating room and other departments
Communicate clearly with patients families and clinical teams regarding surgery dates pre-operative instructions and follow-up appointments
Receive and review pre-operative paperwork for accuracy and completeness including insurance and medical information
Create coordinate and schedule pre-operative interviews and clearances as needed
Notify vendors ancillary departments and specialty reps of equipment or implant needs
Maintain accurate records of all scheduled surgeries and promptly update changes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Notify internal and external services (e.g. Coumadin Clinic imaging PT) of schedule updates or cancellations
Provide administrative and communication support to the orthopedic team as assigned
Adhere to all safety confidentiality and quality standards in accordance with hospital policies
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent. REQUIRED
- Post-secondary education in healthcare administration or medical assisting. HIGHLY PREFERRED
- One or more years of experience in a medical office or surgical scheduling environment. REQUIRED
- Knowledge of medical terminology orthopedic procedures and insurance authorization processes. REQUIRED
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy clinical environment. REQUIRED
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsable to work effectively with patients families and multidisciplinary teams. REQUIRED
- Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications. REQUIRED
