PLANT CONTROLLER - MONTREAL
ABOUT YOU: The position is responsible for providing financial oversight to our Montreal manufacturing location. This includes managing all financial control and accounting activities including budgeting forecasting and financial reporting. The position partners closely with other leaders to support plant inventory management on-time delivery quality and profitability. Responsible for designing and executing internal controls and ongoing monitoring of internal controls including maintaining policies and SOPs.
Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours to provide their own mobile device and to distribute their mobile phone number accordingly. Alternatively individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present.
YOU WILL: - Accounting.Provide appropriate controls and compliance with general auditing and accounting practices/procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance. Maintain routine accounting practices such as ensuring proper balance sheet account reconciliations and physical inventory procedures are followed and documented.
- Financial Analysis.Develop proactive indicators and predictive cost models to identify key drivers and trends for risks and opportunities to financial plans. Conduct monthly analysis of financial results and present to plant operations management and divisional finance leadership. Integrate plant-level information with the broader organization. Facilitate and support operational analysis to identify improvement opportunities. Teach and educate the organization on financial controls.
- Business Systems & Data Enablement.Partner with IT to optimize financial systems and utilization drive data and analytics enhancements expand ERP capabilities and implement system improvements that support evolving business needs.
- Inventory.Oversee the accuracy controls and valuation of plant inventory by managing physical counts investigating variances and ensuring proper accounting and compliance.
- Planning and Forecasting. Lead planning and forecasting activities for the plant including analysis of variances to support informed operational and financial decision making.
- Strengthen.Provide financial support to plant operations helping with process improvements overseeing standard costs and variance analysis and analyzing and approving capital expenditures.
- Develop.Supports and leads ad hoc and special projects as required providing accounting compliance financial analysis insights and guidance.
- Typical/expected % of overnight travel. Less than 5% annuallly.
YOU HAVE: - Experience.8 years of finance experience in a manufacturing ability to design and implement cost systems.
- Education.BA/BS in accounting or finance. Preferably MBA CPA/CMA or Chartered Global Practicing Accountant (CGPA).
- Great Communication Skills.Strong communication abilities with all levels of proficient in English. Preferred fluency in French.
- Leadership. Proven leadership in the accounting/finance area.
- Drive.Results-oriented and strategically focused with proven results.
- Technical Skills.Excellent understanding of US GAAP/ understanding of variance analytical and problem-solving experience using Microsoft Office Project and understanding of GST/HST/QST and all PST requirements across Canada.
