Job Description:
A 1st Class Boiler Operator in a steel manufacturing company safely operates monitors and maintains high-pressure boilers
HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generation) systems and auxiliary equipment to ensure continuous steam production. Key responsibilities include controlling boiler pressure water treatment fuel handling and performing preventative maintenance while adhering to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operational Control:Safely start up shut down and operate high-pressure boilers (FO-fired coal or FBC) and auxiliaries (pumps fans de-aerators) usingDCS/PLC systemsor manual controls.
- Monitoring & Safety:Monitor steam pressure temperature fuel levels and water levels constantly to optimize efficiency and ensure safety. Perform routine hourly inspections to check for leaks unusual noises or malfunctions.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:Perform preventive maintenance (PM) tasks including cleaning fuel filters burner nozzles and fire tubes. Troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Water Treatment:Manage and monitor water treatment systems including chemical dosing and boiler blowdown to prevent corrosion and scale buildup.
- Compliance & Reporting:Maintain detailed logs of operational data water parameters and maintenance activities. Adhere to statutory regulations including coordination withboiler inspectors.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification:Valid 1st Class Boiler Attendant/Operator Certificate.
- Experience:Generally 2-5 years in high-pressure boiler operations preferably in steel or similar heavy industries.
- Technical Knowledge:Understanding of combustion systems steam distribution and water treatment.
- Skills:Strong troubleshooting ability safety-focused mindset and ability to work in shifts.
Typical Salary Range:
- Around 3.00 LPA to 3.36 LPA in specific regions (e.g. Raipur) with industry averages ranging from 3.38 LPA to over 5.8 LPA for experienced operators.
