About the role

The Cyber Security Analyst role leads the protection of Councils systems data and digital assets by driving organisationwide cyber security initiatives and strengthening the overall security posture. The role oversees risk identification incident response security governance and continuous improvement while working closely with teams across Council to embed secure practices support staff awareness and provide expert advice on emerging threats and technology.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Lead the identification analysis and mitigation of cyber security risks and drive organisationwide security initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain cyber security policies controls and incident response plans in line with standards and legislation.
  • Conduct security audits vulnerability assessments penetration testing and provide expert guidance on enterprise risk.
  • Manage core security tools and monitor investigate and respond to security incidents.
  • Build organisationwide capability through staff training reporting collaboration and expert advice to leaders and project teams.

About you

The Information and Technology Services Group is looking for an experienced cyber security professional with strong capability in risk management incident response and leading organisationwide security initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring solid knowledge of key ICT frameworks and legislation along with handson skills in audits vulnerability assessments and using modern security tools.
The role requires some who communicates clearly solves problems with confidence and works effectively across teams while managing competing priorities.
The successful candidate will also bring:
  • Proven experience leading complex cyber initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards.
  • Skilled in conducting security audits vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Excellent analytical problemsolving communication and collaboration capabilities.

Qualifications and licences:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology Cyber Security Computer Science or a related discipline
    along with equivalent industry experience.
