AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer for employment in our Water Business Line based out of our Burnaby BC office. This position will assist and support Wastewater/Water Design Design-Build and Program Management projects. The Mechanical Engineer will work with Senior Engineers Project Managers and other technical disciplines on all project phases including Facility Planning Design Preliminary Design Detailed Design Construction Commissioning and Close Out. Work will include assisting with the management and coordination of design projects on municipal Wastewater/Water facilities and associated infrastructure. Field work and site visits to project sites within the Metro Vancouver area will be required to support on ongoing construction projects.
Responsibilities
Responsible for engineering design and rehabilitation activities related to heating ventilation air conditioning and plumbing design:
- Design of Plumbing Fire Protection and HVAC systems;
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Heat loss/gain calculation and engineering modelling.
- Prepare HVAC calculations HVAC design concepts and layouts under the supervision of a senior engineer. Assist in preparing markups and design instructions for modelling/drafting by technicians.
- Prepare plumbing design concepts and layouts for modelling/drafting by technicians.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of technical documents calculations and drawings.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Provide technical input to studies and design reports to meet client requirements.
- Performs self-quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings prior to submitting to senior staff for review and verification.
- Assist in preparing technical specification sections.
- Assist with the design and drafting of mechanical systems in 2D AutoCAD and MicroStation on an as needed basis;
- Assist with the design and drafting of mechanical systems in 3D such as REVIT on an as needed basis;
- Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical persons;
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of engineering experience
- Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer in Training (EIT)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing for commercial institutional and light industrial facilities.
- Detail oriented while still able to understand the goals of a project
