Your new role as Senior Investigator Safety will see you providing independent and objective insights into the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems of various areas and functions in the Airline Group. Reporting to Manager Group Investigations you will lead and execute the delivery of investigations and safety reviews within the Qantas Group. This is a pivotal role for a safety professional who thrives in complex operational environments and is passionate about driving systemic improvement and a strong safety culture.
What youll be doing
- Leading and executing highlevel safety investigations across the Qantas Group identifying systemic risks and underlying causal factors
- Applying the Qantas Group investigation methodology to complex safetycritical matters across the network
- Collecting analysing and interpreting complex operational data evidence and management systems to identify control strengths weaknesses and improvement opportunities
- Developing clear concise and influential investigation reports for stakeholders including Executive Management
- Building strong trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes through sound judgement and expert advice
- Acting as a safety leader contributing to the ongoing development of a positive and proactive safety culture across a diverse workforce
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Strong understanding of the airline industry and the Qantas Group
- 5 years experience in safety investigations or a safetyrelated role
- Completion of an approved Safety Investigation qualification.
- Operational experience within aviation (Flight Operations Cabin Engineering Airports/Ground Operations) or a comparable heavy transport environment
- Proven experience in safetycritical investigations risk management and quality or safety management systems
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with experience engaging at Executive level
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders manage challenging conversations and drive crossbusiness change
- Sound knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements and relevant safety legislation
