We have an opening for a Superblock Electrical Engineer to play a key role in advancing nextgeneration weapons technologies in direct support of the nations strategic this position you will help mature critical technologies driving the design installation and integration of equipment and systems within nuclear facilities with a focus on ensuring safe robust and compliant operation.
You will join our Superblock Capabilities team working on groundbreaking projects at the intersection of facility engineering and nuclear weapon program needs. Your work will emphasize electrical design for equipment installation power distribution and associated control and monitoring systems including the development of design packages calculations and documentation that support construction startup and operations.
Our projects span the full lifecycle from requirements development and conceptual layouts through detailed design installation commissioning and sustainment providing you with the opportunity to see your engineering solutions implemented in complex realworld environments. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) within the Engineering Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
- Develop electrical designs and design packages for the integration of programmatic equipment and systems within nuclear facilities including power distribution control and monitoring interfaces.
- Collaborate with programmatic and facility stakeholders to derive engineering requirements capture equipment power needs and translate them into conceptual and detailed electrical designs.
- Perform supporting engineering analyses and calculations including load studies voltage drop protective device coordination and other assessments needed to ensure safe and reliable integration with existing utilities.
- Coordinate with the Building Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and facility engineering staff to ensure designs meet laboratory requirements the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable codes standards and institutional requirements.
- Support and participate in the detailed design process including development of drawings specifications and bills of material and coordinate with fabrication and installation teams.
- Review and evaluate vendor and fabrication submittals to verify technical compliance and ensure that procured equipment can be integrated with existing facility infrastructure and power sources.
- Participate in field walkdowns construction installation and startup activities to verify that electrical equipment and systems are installed and integrated in accordance with design intent and applicable requirements.
- Provide engineering support for commissioning and programmatic testing by ensuring appropriate power and control interfaces are available to electronic components diagnostics and other test equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Utilize advanced engineering knowledge and apply advanced technical concepts and techniques along with relevant professional experience to resolve complex technical and programmatic issues related to the integration of electrical equipment and systems in nuclear facilities.
- Exercise independent judgment in determining methods techniques and evaluation criteria for electrical analyses design decisions and resolution of integration challenges.
- Guide the completion of engineering testing startup and commissioning activities perform data analysis and assist in preparing technical reports documentation and presentations.
Qualifications :
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of facility or industrial electrical systems and engineering drawings including the ability to interpret one-line diagrams panel schedules and equipment connection details.
- Comprehensive knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) principles and their application to the design and integration of new equipment into existing electrical distribution systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and operational experience with engineering testing processes such as equipment checkout startup and commissioning and demonstrated ability to conduct and document data analyses.
- Experience using common electrical engineering tools or software (for example load calculation spreadsheets CAD-based drafting tools or protective device coordination tools) to support design and analysis.
- Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team coordinate with facility stakeholders and the Building AHJ and prepare and present clear technical documentation.

- Advanced experience developing and executing electrical project scope in industrial facilities including evaluating design options defining design criteria and preparing or reviewing designs calculations specifications drawings and technical work instructions that support safe efficient construction and equipment turnover.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with applicable electrical and nuclear industry codes and standards including NFPA 70 NFPA 70E NFPA 110 relevant IEEE and UL standards and DOE or nuclear safety requirements governing facility electrical systems important to safety.
