Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer (DFMEA / Field Reliability Specialist) to strengthen our engineering teams ability to design analyze and maintain robust electronic systems. This role focuses on both proactive design reliability and field performance modeling supporting product development across automotive or consumer electronics domains.
Depending on experience and qualifications this role may emphasize either DFMEA leadership or Field Reliability engineering with opportunities to contribute across both areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Decompose system-level features into detailed DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) structures
- Lead and facilitate FMEA working sessions with cross-functional engineering teams
- Guide teams on:
- Electronic failure modes
- Reliability risks and failure mechanisms
- Design guidelines and countermeasures
- Provide deep insight into vehicle or product system functionality to ensure robust design decisions
2. Field Reliability & Data Modeling
- Develop accelerated aging models for various failure mechanisms
- Build tools and processes to model fleet health and stress behavior in electronic systems
- Apply statistical methods to analyze field reliability and predict failure trends
- Utilize coding (preferably Python) to automate modeling and data analysis workflows
- Leverage knowledge of Highly Accelerated Testing (HALT/HASS) methods and governing equations
3. Reliability Engineering & Analysis
- Support reliability-driven design improvements across hardware systems
- Analyze field and lab data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with hardware test and manufacturing teams to improve product durability and performance
Core Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Electronic Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5 years of experience in the automotive or consumer electronics industry within the EE domain
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity
Technical Expertise
- Experience conducting and leading DFMEA activities
- Strong understanding of electronic systems and schematics
- Knowledge of PCBA troubleshooting techniques
- Solid foundation in physics of failure for low-voltage electronic components and PCBAs
- Experience applying reliability engineering principles and statistical analysis
Field Reliability & Analysis Skills
- Experience developing accelerated life testing models
- Familiarity with Highly Accelerated Testing (HALT/HASS) methods
- Proficiency in data modeling and applied statistics for reliability
- Programming experience (preferably Python) for analysis and automation
Failure Analysis Knowledge
Familiarity with advanced failure analysis tools and techniques including:
- Optical microscopy
- X-ray and CT imaging
- FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy)
- SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)
- EDS (Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy)
Additional Strengths
- Deep understanding of system-level functionality and interactions
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead technical discussions
- Strong interest in reliability engineering and continuous improvement
