Full-time Technical Services team member to support the R&D team and provide customer field support. They will need to support the R&D team with evaluation of new products from an installers point of view or existing products that have been improved. As part of the R&D support you will be the voice of the customer within the laboratory. This will help the lab better understand what is needed in the market so they can develop the best products possible. The candidate will need to be able to provide field and technical support in both English and Spanish.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop a strong knowledge of all Taylor products along with their limitations and benefits.
Test new and improved products to evaluate usability and function.
Taking a prototype out of the lab and testing it in real-world conditions to see if it performs as needed.
Develop use-case data. For example if R&D develops a new product you will establish the best application method required for a customer to use it in their application (trowel size floor prep ect).
Perform competitive analysis: Benchmark the new development against what is already available in the market.
Assist the lab by preparing substrates as needed.
Assemble samples for testing.
Perform project testing as needed.
Keep the project portal up to date with progress reports for projects that are assigned to you.
Assist other team members with projects as needed.
Help establish testing procedures for non-standard projects.
Prepare reports from the completed projects.
Provide photos of the testing process for reports.
Travel when needed for inspections or training events.
Perform field training with our distribution and OEM partners.
Assist the sales department with trade shows and training.
Troubleshooting: When a product fails at a customers site the Technical Application Specialist goes into the field to diagnose whether the issue is a product defect an environmental factor or user error.
Answer technical questions from the tech line.
Support the sales team as needed to handle the heavy lifting and answer technical questions that go beyond a standard sales pitch.
Assist with in person and remote training events.
Educate customers and distributors on how to handle apply or maintain Taylors products safely and efficiently.
Keep the training facility neat and organized to prevent safety hazards.
Keep up to date with the latest ASTM protocols that relate to flooring installation.
Make certain that all company equipment is properly maintained so it is safe and in working order.
Support other Avery Dennison divisions as required.
Support manufacturing as needed.
Qualifications :
Skills & Abilities
Must have an extensive installation background.
Experience with carpet resilient and wood flooring installation is essential.
Certification from CFI NWFA IUPAT or another recognized training organization is preferred.
Must be bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish.
Should have good communication skills.
Must have exceptional de-escalation skills and maintain a composed professional demeanor.
Have good decision-making skills.
Must be a self starter.
Have a basic understanding of computers and their operation.
Must be able to work independently without supervision.
Have a valid drivers license.
Have or acquire a valid passport.
Education & Experience
Installation experience is essential with a good understanding of the application of adhesives primers and sealers.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to apply adhesives and coatings.
Must have sufficient body strength to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. of flooring and or adhesives as needed.
Additional Information :
The salary range for this position is $65000 - $95000/ year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range and in some circumstances may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant skills experience education and training and location as well as the job scope and complexity responsibilities and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position which may change depending on the candidate pool.
