Job Summary

The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) seeks to eliminate inequities resulting in premature mortality. With an unwavering grounding in history and structural analysis CHECW works to increase visibility of socially unjust policy while pushing towards redress for the most impacted NYC communities. CHECW addresses inequity across community and healthcare systems in partnership with community faith-based and health care organizations. CHECWs work focuses on social determinants of health including environmental and commercial determinants and addresses both upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well-being of New Yorkers. CHECW is comprised of the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health the Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health the Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention the Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems and the Bureau of Finance Administration and Services. The divisions Deputy Commissioner also serves as the Agencys Chief Equity Officer and oversees Race to Justice the Agencys internal reform effort to help our staff learn what they can do to better address racial health gaps and improve health outcomes for all New Yorkers. The divisions Deputy Commissioner also serves as the Agencys Chief Medical Officer. The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems is the healthcare systems bureau of DOHMH. Our mission is to apply policy evidence and practical expertise to improve equity in health care delivery at the individual organizational and systems levels. We do this by engaging primary care providers and other healthcare organizations to implement evidence-based strategies; leveraging information to support planning and technical assistance for priority health outcomes; and surfacing opportunities where health care can influence and connect consumers to social support and addressing the whole person beyond physical ailments.

The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems is seeking a Project Manager Clinical and Community Partnerships to perform applied public health research evaluation and analysis to support Bronx Asthma Programs. Please note this position requires traveling to our Bronx Neighborhood Health Action Center.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
Applied Research Evaluation and Analysis
-Design and conduct applied research and evaluation activities related to primary care delivery practice transformation and health equity initiatives.
-Develop research questions analytic frameworks and performance measures to assess program implementation processes and outcomes.
-Collect review analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources including program data practice-reported data and stakeholder input.
-Evaluate findings identify trends and gaps and develop evidence-informed conclusions and recommendations.
-Maintain research documentation and datasets; ensure data quality and integrity.
-Prepare written analytic reports summaries and presentations to communicate research findings to internal leadership funders and external stakeholders.
-Assist in coordinating research and evaluation activities with related initiatives across BEHS and other DOHMH units.
Program Support Coordination and Knowledge Translation
-Coordinate and support the implementation of research-informed practice transformation initiatives with healthcare providers and community-based organizations
-Provide technical assistance and consultative support to program staff and a caseload of clinical and community partners related to data collection implementation fidelity and use of findings.
-Contribute to the development of tools curricula and guidance materials that translate research findings into practice.
-Provide mentoring and matrix supervision to staff supporting research evaluation or implementation activities as assigned.
-Develop and deliver presentations trainings and briefings to support dissemination and uptake of research findings.
-Support coordination with external vendors and stakeholders contributing to research evaluation or implementation activities.
-Assist with preparation of grant and funding application materials including research and evaluation components.
-Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.
