Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain. The activity of NAS domain: avionics navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Groups Competence center for the design production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

About the Role


We are looking for a motivated student or recent graduate to join our R&D team in the field of electromagnetic communication systems.
The internship focuses on the analysis and modelling of airborne communication links exploring the interaction between antenna configuration signal propagation and system performance.
You will contribute to the development of simulation tools and models supporting the design and optimization of next-generation aircraft communication architectures with exposure to real data and
advanced modelling techniques.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze the architecture and communication systems of commercial aircraft.
  • Model the ADS-B antenna system (top and bottom) and its signal propagation.
  • Evaluate antenna coverage and ground visibility through simulations.
  • Support the development and validation of signal models using MATLAB or Python.
  • Contribute to documentation and reporting of simulation results.

Your Profile

  • Currently completing or recently graduated with a Bachelors or Masters degree in a STEM discipline (Telecommunications Engineering preferred).
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Signal theory
  • Electromagnetic communication
  • Antenna theory
  • Ray-tracing algorithms
  • Numerical modelling and scripting (MATLAB Python)

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Mode S / ADS-B aircraft transponders
  • Understanding of aircraft communication architectures
  • Familiarity with beam forming techniques and antenna arrays
  • Interest in LEO satellite communications
