We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Safety Assistant with at least 2 years of experience in the trucking industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations with a primary focus on overall safety compliance risk prevention and driver performance management.
The Safety Assistant will support the Safety Department in maintaining regulatory compliance reducing company liability improving safety standards and promoting a culture of accountability and accident prevention.
Ensure full compliance with FMCSA and DOT safety regulations
Maintain and audit Driver Qualification (DQ) files and compliance documentation
Manage accident reporting investigations and root cause analysis
Track and monitor driver safety performance violations and corrective actions
Oversee safety training programs and driver onboarding processes
Develop and implement safety improvement initiatives
Prepare documentation for audits inspections and internal reviews
Monitor CSA scores and assist in safety rating improvements
Coordinate drug & alcohol testing compliance
Review insurance claims and assist in liability management
Communicate and enforce company safety policies and procedures
Minimum 2 years of trucking safety or compliance experience
Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT requirements
Experience with safety audits accident investigations and compliance programs
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Strong communication and documentation abilities
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
