About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist to lead and support the development of Privacy Impact Assessments for new technologies information systems and policy or program initiatives including AI-enabled solutions within the Social Assistance domain.
This role will ensure compliance with provincial municipal federal and private sector privacy legislation while identifying and mitigating privacy risks and addressing stakeholder concerns.
Key Responsibilities

Lead or support end-to-end Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new or enhanced programs systems and AI tools
-
Evaluate compliance with:
-
Provincial municipal and federal privacy legislation
-
OPS policies directives standards and guidelines
-
Internationally accepted Fair Information Practices
-
Identify privacy risks and develop mitigation strategies
-
Create and review data flow diagrams business process diagrams and solution design artifacts
-
Develop privacy risk assessment tools mitigation plans methodologies policies and procedures
-
Provide privacy guidance to business and technical stakeholders
-
Collaborate with legal IT security business architecture risk management and project teams
-
Provide education and training related to privacy where required
Must-Have Qualifications
-
Demonstrated experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments in the public sector

Strong working knowledge of:
-
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
-
Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
-
Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
-
Related regulations and jurisprudence especially decisions of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
-
Deep understanding of privacy principles and compliance requirements
-
Experience researching and applying privacy laws and risk countermeasures
-
Strong communication skills with technical business and privacy audiences
-
Ability to independently lead or contribute to PIAs
Preferred Qualifications

Professional certification in privacy IT security or architecture (e.g. CIPP CIPM CISSP)

Familiarity with:

Experience with Ontario government policies and governance processes
-
Knowledge of AI systems and emerging technology privacy implications
