WMEP sits in the TAFE division of Victoria University and delivers high-quality English language and foundation education to learners from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds across Melbournes west. Our team of passionate educators and leaders supports students to build English proficiency confidence and pathways into further study employment and community participation. As part of WMEP youll work in a collaborative student-focused environment committed to inclusion innovation and educational excellence.

About the Role

Victoria University TAFE (VU TAFE) Western Melbourne English Program is looking for qualified sessional EAL teachers to deliver our EAL courses to students from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Position Key Duties

  • Delivering training and assessmentin various EAL courses
  • Maintaining accurate course and student records according to organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Fostering a working environment that is respectful to all students and staff
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the course by being involved with the design development and validation of its training and assessment resources.

Pay rates:Sessional teaching rate is $98.34 per hour and sessional non-teaching rate is $63.29 per hour inclusive of 25% sessional loading plus superannuation

About You

Our teaching team is looking for dedicated sessional teachers eager to bring their industry experience to the classroom. If youre an experienced EAL teacher passionate about inspiring and empowering learners we would love to hear from you!

Appropriate qualifications to be eligible for this role include but are not limited to:

  • A four-year Bachelor of Education with TESOL as a method
  • An undergraduate bachelor degree plus a postgraduate TESOL qualification at AQF 8 or above that includes a 22-day supervised teaching practicum in TESOL such as:
  • Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL)
  • Graduate Certificate in TESOL
  • Graduate Diploma in TESOL
  • Graduate Diploma of Education with a TESOL method
  • Master of TESOL/Master of Applied Linguistics/Master of Arts (TESOL)
  • Master of Teaching with a TESOL method
