About the Role
The ESL Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training to teachers focusing on enhancing their teaching skills including lesson planning classroom management language modelling and student engagement techniques. The ideal candidate is passionate about teacher development culturally aware and skilled in creating supportive and interactive training environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development
- Design and implement training plans that align with teaching proficiency standards and cater to diverse teacher needs.
- Adapt materials and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for all teachers.
2. Instruction
- Deliver interactive teacher-centered training sessions in both in-person and online formats.
- Employ a variety of training methodologies to accommodate different learning styles and professional development needs.
3. Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate teacher progress in demonstrating effective teaching skills.
- Provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of teacher performance.
4. Support and Mentorship
- Offer additional support to teachers facing challenges in skill acquisition including one-on-one coaching as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive training atmosphere that encourages participation and confidence.
5. Collaboration
- Work closely with other trainers and support staff to create integrated professional development experiences.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance training effectiveness and stay updated on best practices in ESL education.
6. Community Engagement
- Engage with teacher teams to promote involvement in the professional development process and provide resources for self-study.
- Organize training-related activities to enrich the learning experience for teachers.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Education English TESOL or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience training English language teachers.
- Experience working with teachers from diverse cultural backgrounds is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with teachers.
- Proficient in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance training.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple training sessions effectively.
Certifications:
- ESL/TESOL certification is required; a teaching certification in English is a plus.
Work Set-up and Requirements
- Schedule: This position may require flexible hours including evenings or weekends depending on teacher needs.
- The role involves a mix of in-person and online training delivery.
- Workdays: Five-day workweek with two rest days.
- Location: Fully remote with once-a-month in-person gatherings within the NCR area
- Fully comfortable with time monitoring software
- Desktop/laptop with Intel i5 (10th gen) 8GB RAM or higher
- Minimum 25 Mbps internet speed with backup connection
- Backup power supply for at least 8 hours
