Job Summary
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelors degree in Education preferred.
Experience: One year of previous coaching experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Eye-hand mind-eye coordination physical dexterity the ability to bend stoop walk talk and sit. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Successful completion of First Aid for Coaches and Fundamentals of Coaching or their equivalents as defined by South Dakota High School Activities Association.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Assists the Head Coach in providing direction for student athletes.
- Coaches the junior varsity and/or freshman squads.
- Provides guidance to Middle School coaches and programs feeding into High School.
- Assists Head Coach in determining athlete participation during practice and games to include squad level and playing time.
- Operates within District Conference and SDHSAA policies.
- Supervises students while in locker rooms play areas and remains with students while traveling.
- Provides first aid when necessary.
- Assists in issuing equipment caring for and maintaining it and inventorying it at end of season.
- Cares for and maintains equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
