The Role

BGC is seeking a Juniorto Intermediate Laboratory Technicianwith a passion to expand their knowledge of geotechnical testing for our advanced soil and rock testing facility in Fredericton New Brunswick (BGC Engineering Fredericton NB ()).

BGCs laboratory isa state-of-the-artfacility which specializes in strength compressibility and permeability testing of soil and strength testing of rock. Our testing equipment includes cyclic dynamic simple shear servo-controlled fully automated triaxial and automated oedometer systems. The technician will support engineers with advanced rockand soillaboratory testing and learn foundationalsoil mechanics &rock mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Organize andmaintainsample inventory

• Maintain andoperatetesting equipment

• Prepare rockand soilsamples for testing

• Conduct advanced laboratory tests on rock and soil

• Prepare laboratory test reports

• Follow lab procedures for safety and quality

• Train and mentor laboratory staff and laboratory visitors

Required Education Experience & Competencies

• Technical diploma in Civil Geological or GeotechnicalEngineering

• 0-10years of relevant industry experience

• Technical competence and experience with machine operation and repair

• Experienceutilizingbasic software for machine operation and data entry

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with materials testing is considered an asset

• Experience with use of power tools plumbing carpentry and electrical circuits is considered an asset

Position Requirements

Drivers License

BGC requires that employees have a valid drivers license and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring BGCwill requirea drivers abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this position is $60000-$80000CAD per annum however base pay will becommensuratewith job-related knowledge skills and experience. BGCs compensation package also includes adiscretionary bonus plantraining allowanceand comprehensive medical and dental plan.
