The Role
BGC isseekinga Junior Geological or Geotechnical Engineerwith a strong interest in rock mechanics and laboratory rock testing to join our advanced soil and rock testing facility in Fredericton New Brunswick(BGC Engineering Fredericton NB ()).
BGCs laboratory isa state-of-the-artfacility which specializes inadvanced testing of soilstrength compressibility and permeability alongsiderockstrengthand deformationtesting. Ourrocktesting equipment includesaservo-controlled fully automateduniaxial/triaxialload frameand automateddirect shearJuniorEngineerwill work closely with intermediate and senior engineers to conduct advanced rock testingassistwith test planning and execution interpret results and developa strong foundationin applied rock mechanics and geotechnical laboratory practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced geotechnical tests on rock specimens todeterminetheir physical and mechanical properties
- Collect analyze and interpret data from rock tests to support engineering projects and research.
- Work closely with senior and intermediate engineers to support laboratory testing programs with varying deadlines and responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory test reports
- Follow lab procedures for safety and quality
- Train and mentor laboratory staff and laboratory visitors
Required Education Experience & Competencies
- Bachelors degree in Civil Geological or Geotechnical Engineering; coursework in rock mechanics is preferred
- 05 years of relevant industry experience
- Eligible for professional registration as an EIT or PEng
- Desire to work in a lab and learn advanced rock testing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Position Requirements

Drivers License
BGC requires that employees have a valid drivers license and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring BGCwill requirea drivers abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.

Compensation
The estimated base salary range for this position is $70000-$85000CAD per annum however base pay will becommensuratewith job-related knowledge skills and experience. BGCs compensation package also includes adiscretionary bonus plantraining allowanceand comprehensive medical and dental plan.
