We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Wickham Market Medical Centre. Providing an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills and develop your career within the practice minimum 10 hours work per are looking for highly skilled flexible adaptable individuals to work within our dedicated healthcare team.
In this role you will play an important part in delivering high-quality patient care supporting our clinical team and contributing to the smooth running of the practice. You will work closely with GPs nurses and other healthcare professionals providing direct patient care assisting with clinical procedures promoting health and wellbeing and enhancing the overall patient experience. This role offers variety professional development opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our patients every day.
Job responsibilities:
- Consult with patients and their families to assess patient needs
- Assist clinical staff in treatment preventative care long-term condition management health promotion and patient education
- Provide clinical support to nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Deliver basic clinical interventions under supervision to support patient safety and continuity of care
- Act as a chaperone when required
- Record and prepare specimens for onward transportation
- Assist during minor operations
- Ensure clinical waste is safely removed and sharps bins replaced in line with IPC policy
- Work within national and local protocols and adhere to safeguarding policies for adults and children
- Recognise professional boundaries and know when to escalate or refer patients
- Support enhanced services and other practice requirements
- Provide support to the administrative team as required
- Complete mandatory training and induction programmes
- Contribute to clinical governance initiatives
- Maintain a clean safe and effective working environment
- Attend annual appraisals and support ongoing professional development
Wider Responsibilities
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support and participate in shared learning activities.
- Phlebotomist Health Care Assistant or Nurse with up-to-date phlebotomy skills
- Intermediate computer skills required (must be comfortable with basic software programs)
- Must have own reliable transport and a full UK driving license
- Based within a reasonable travel distance to the surgery.
We are a high-performing PMS dispensing practice situated in a lovely semi-rural area of coastal Suffolk. We care for 9900 patients with our guiding vision being the desire to provide them with access to the type of general practice we would want for ourselves our families and our friends. Via our PCN we are also supported by another paramedic first contact physiotherapists pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Social prescribers mental health nurses and patient care coordinators provide further support. For 20 years we have held an Investors in People bronze award.
