BIOCROSSROADS OVERVIEW:
BioCrossroads the life sciences initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) ignites the continued growth of Indianas robust life sciences industry by activating the sector through strategic research and market knowledge strengthening the substrate of the Indiana ecosystem with a focus on talent companies and capital and cultivating the community by connecting and convening academic corporate and philanthropic partners.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Manager Training & Upskilling BioTrain works directly with BioCrossroads Senior Director Workforce Development Life Sciences to advance BioCrossroads mission to build a world-class employment-ready workforce for Indianas statewide life sciences community. This role will work with industry stakeholders and key education partners to inform the creation of employer-validated biomanufacturing training programs that address the industrys highest priority needs provide industry-relevant training help place new entrants into high-quality jobs and recruit company-sponsored employees to upskill the existing biomanufacturing workforce.
This role will be BioCrossroads representative in BioTrain Heartland BioWorks biomanufacturing workforce development project. BioTrain developed with ARI BioCrossroads Employ Indy Ivy Tech and Purdue will offer flexible stackable professional credentials for entry-level positions and will recruit from local populations offer support services and facilitate smooth transitions from training to addition industry-recognized curricula will also be offered for employers to upskill or reskill their current workforce. These training programs will be hosted at facilities across the state and at the Heartland BioWorks Tech Hub training facility with state-of-the-art equipment to be located in the 16 Tech Innovation District in Indianapolis. BioTrain will upskill and reskill workers accelerate time to productivity and strengthen Indianas talent pipeline for high-paying in-demand jobs in biotechnology and biomanufacturing. This position will play a key role to fulfill BioTrains objective to establish Indiana as a regional center of excellence for biopharma manufacturing.
This role is idea for someone who loves relationship building and business development; has experience translating employer needs into tangible actionable training solutions; can manage complex multi-partner projects with minimal oversight; and is passionate about workforce development economic mobility and supporting the growth of life sciences in Indiana.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead BioCrossroads BioTrain biomanufacturing workforce development efforts as part of the Heartland BioWorks biomanufacturing Regional Tech Hub consortium.
  • Participate in regular meetings with key BioTrain stakeholders including ARI Employ Indy Ivy Tech and Purdue University
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key employer partners statewide and regionally as well as education partners and other key stakeholders in Indiana
  • Develop and execute plans to accomplish key goals and milestones
  • Collaborate with key BioTrain stakeholders to support shared goals and milestones
Utilize employer-validated occupational pathway insights from the biomanufacturing industry to inform BioTrains workforce strategy and training prioritization
  • Participate in regular meetings of Indianas Life Sciences Industry Talent Association (Life Sciences ITA) to understand Indiana employer needs for the biomanufacturing workforce including demand forecasting for biopharma manufacturing roles
  • Outline and develop biopharma manufacturing training pathways for adults by adapting employer-validated pathways to align with BioTrain-specific needs
  • Work with BioTrain partners to ensure created curricula aligns with employer-validated pathways and insights
  • Produce an upskilling curriculum catalog based on employer input
  • Work with Senior Director Workforce Development Life Sciences to obtain credential of value status for BioTrain adult training programs including mapping to proposed state qualifications framework
Support the upskilling of the existing biopharma manufacturing workforce by recruiting company-sponsored employees for online and onsite training programs
  • Cultivate relationships with biopharma manufacturing employers across Indiana and Midwest states
  • Educate biopharma manufacturing employers in Indiana and Midwest states about BioTrain upskilling resources to drive employer engagement and workforce attendance at employer-sponsored biopharma manufacturing training at BioTrain Headquarters in Indianapolis and other locations
  • Offer and provide high-quality training to equip the incumbent biomanufacturing workforce with the professional education and skills needed to meet current and future employers needs
  • Work with ARI and other key stakeholders to track impact of and satisfaction with the adult training programs
Support BioCrossroads efforts to enhance workforce and talent initiatives in the state and strengthen Indianas talent pipeline for high-paying in-demand jobs in biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
  • Participate in and represent the life sciences sector at select career fairs educational events and other events in Indiana that promote life sciences career awareness.
  • Collaborate with other life sciences-focused initiatives in the state to support the building of a strong life sciences ecosystem
  • Serve as a thought partner for the Senior Director Workforce Development Life Sciences
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in biology chemistry life sciences business or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in life sciences or related ideally with experience in workforce development talent development or training
  • Ability to travel throughout Indiana and other Midwest states to meet with key stakeholders including industry employers and education partners
  • Strong project management skills exhibiting excellent planning coordination and organizational skills and ability to lead project deliverables through to completion.
  • Work with an agile mindset demonstrating flexibility and willingness to adapt to shifting priorities demands and timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Self-starter who can be given a need or objective break it down into executable pieces identify questions that need to be asked gather priorities and requirements set and manage to milestones and then execute effectively.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
