Job Description:
Under the direction of the Manager Admissions the incumbent processes evaluates and coordinates transfer credits in support of previous related academic experience. The incumbent is the subject matter expert on transfer options and pathways amongst Algonquin to Algonquin and non-Algonquin to non-Algonquin courses and program options. The incumbent is responsible for determining whether institutions have the appropriate accreditation that is required to be used as the basis for transfer credit.
The incumbent provides information and communicates to current and prospective students applicants guidance counsellors parents faculty and college administrators regarding a broad range of transfer options. The incumbent supports the Colleges recruitment and admissions efforts by delivering information sessions on and off campus and travelling locally and throughout the province at various college fairs post- graduate fairs degree panels etc. The successful candidate will continuously communicate and advise applicants through the admissions process and throughout the progression toward their educational goals by reviewing previous academic education and how this may be applied to their program of choice.
Additionally the incumbent analyzes and recommends solutions or enhancements to transfer-related processes. The incumbent is responsible for accurately processing the transfer of credit for students in all programs at the College. Advocating and supporting students with transfer credit enquiries and options the incumbent will liaise with various faculties and departments to build awareness pertaining to transfer options regulations and processes. The incumbent recommends and implements office-wide and college-wide procedures through the use of automation; assists in the evaluation and implementation of system enhancements; and collaborates with Registrarial and systems staff.
The incumbent will update communications when information is revised or new information is obtained regarding transfer credits and pathways. The Transfer Credit Specialist through various training sessions will also train staff on new initiatives and revisions to the current process and highlight Ministry changes that impact transfer options. The Transfer Credit Specialist is the lead for the transfer credit process.
The Specialist is responsible for acting as a key resource for transfer credit for the Admissions Officers the Enrolment Services Representatives the College faculty and IT Support in the Registrars Office. Any major issues with regard to transfer credit are sent to the Transfer Credit Specialist for review and for decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) Year Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Business Administration Public Administration Office Administration or similar field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
Minimum of three (3) years work experience in the following areas:
Progressive office experience in a service area or in a business office setting;
Experience in a student service environment or Registrars Office preferred;
Experience assessing transfer credit is an asset and experience with databases and a Student Information System is preferred.
