The Student Accounts Manager plays a critical role in supporting student success by ensuring a clear accurate and compassionate student billing experience. This position oversees student accounts operations while serving as a trusted resource for students and families navigating tuition fees payments and financial obligations. The ideal candidate brings a strong service mindset excellent communication skills and a commitment to helping students persist and graduate by reducing financial barriers and confusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day student accounts operations including billing payment processing refunds and collections
- Supervise train and support student accounts staff with a focus on service excellence
- Resolve complex or sensitive account issues with professionalism discretion and a student-centered approach
- Administer and monitor payment plans balancing institutional policy with flexibility and student needs
- Review and reconcile student account transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare reports on receivables aging and account trends to support planning and decision-making
- Collaborate closely with Financial Aid Registrar Admissions Advising and IT to provide a seamless student experience
- Ensure compliance with FERPA Title IV and institutional policies while maintaining a supportive approachable office culture
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance business administration higher education administration or a related field
- 35 years of experience in student accounts accounts receivable or student financial services (higher education preferred)
- Demonstrated experience providing customer service in a complex policy-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information in a clear student-friendly way
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with students in a college or university setting
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Familiarity with Title IV regulations and higher education compliance
- Experience with Banner application

- Strong commitment to student success and equitable service
- Excellent interpersonal listening and conflict-resolution skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to balance empathy and policy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced online student environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
