Responsibilities
The Chief Actuary is responsible for contributing to the overall strategic direction of the Operating Unit and direct responsibility for the vision and direction for all actuarial and analytical aspects of the Operating Unit.
Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Develop and execute pricing models for new product(s) and coverage(s)
- Develop and manage portfolio tools and predictive models to ensure profitability
- Build infrastructure to monitor competitive position
- Formulate filing and company placement strategy
- Monitor emerging issues and trends impacting profitability and appetite
- Partner on the development of training modules on underwriting guidelines strategies or emerging issues
- Establish partnership across Operating Units and serve as liaison on Actuary and Analytics issues
- Establish strong Actuary Data and Analytics governance
- Design and lead Portfolio Reviews in collaboration with Underwriting Claims and Finance
- Partner with OU president segment leader and Ceded reinsurance team to develop a reinsurance buying strategy and to represent the Operating Unit via meetings with the reinsurance marketplace as appropriate
- Communicate key information to Operating Unit staff in a timely and efficient manner
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of Actuary Experience
- 5 years of Experience within the Liability suite of products (CGL Excess Environmental Energy Professional etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans; that are driven by empirical analysis and include stated goals and delivery dates
- Experience with filing products and working with state regulators
- Execution oriented with attention to details driven by natural curiosity and competitive spirit
- Must have strong written and verbal communication negotiation and interpersonal skills
