Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Growth Officer (CGO) is a senior executive leadership role responsible for driving strategic revenue growth and business development across the American Society of Hematology (ASH). Reporting to the Executive Director the CGO will develop and execute comprehensive strategies to expand ASHs portfolio of partnerships programs and revenue-generating initiatives that advance the organizations mission to conquer blood diseases.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in sales and business development leadership deep expertise in pharmaceutical and healthcare partnership models and a strong track record navigating mission-driven organizations. This individual will possess a blend of strategic vision and operational excellence with the ability to build high-performing teams cultivate complex multi-stakeholder partnerships and balance ambitious growth objectives with ASHs commitment to advancing hematology research education and patient care.

The CGO will lead efforts to identify and develop new business opportunities expand strategic relationships with industry partners and foundations and establish frameworks for sustainable revenue growth. This role requires exceptional relationship management skills financial acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and key stakeholders across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Business Development

Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategy aligned with ASHs mission and organizational priorities.

Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities through innovative partnerships programs and strategic initiatives.

Lead strategic planning for revenue growth including market analysis competitive positioning and portfolio development.

Establish and monitor key performance indicators revenue targets and growth metrics.

Collaborate with executive leadership to align business development activities with organizational strategy and budget priorities.

Partnership and Relationship Management

Identify cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with healthcare industry partners.

Develop relationships with foundations funding agencies and philanthropic organizations to support ASHs research and educational programs.

Lead development and stewardship of corporate partnerships that align with ASHs mission and ethical guidelines.

Work collaboratively with program leaders across ASH to identify partnership opportunities and ensure value delivery to stakeholders.

Represent ASH in high-level discussions with industry leaders funders and strategic partners.

Cultivating Innovation

Guide the development of (Innovation Guidance Networking Investment Translation Entrepreneurship) a platform that aims to bridge the gap between hematology innovation and commercialization.

Lead the expansion of the knowledge center to establish a valuable repository of curated resources within the established topic areas.

Facilitate the networking hub to help innovators connect with investors or like-minded entrepreneurs.

Develop and implement strategies to leverage these opportunities to generate new revenues for ASH.

Leadership and Team Development

Build lead and mentor a high-performing business development and partnerships team.

Establish processes systems and infrastructure to support scalable growth and operational excellence.

Develop and implement best practices for partnership management proposal development and revenue tracking.

Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and accountability within the business development function.

Grant and Funding Development

Oversee development and management of grant programs that support ASHs research and educational initiatives.

Identify and pursue funding opportunities from government agencies foundations and corporate sources.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop compelling grant proposals aligned with funder priorities and ASHs mission.

Ensure compliance with grant requirements and maintain strong relationships with funding partners.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Bachelors degree in business healthcare administration life sciences or related field. MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.

Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in sales business development or partnership management with demonstrated success in revenue generation and growth.

Proven experience working with pharmaceutical biotechnology or healthcare industry partners including understanding of compliance requirements and partnership structures.

Experience in association nonprofit or mission-driven organizations with ability to balance business objectives with organizational values and stakeholder needs.

Track record of developing and managing successful grant programs or foundation partnerships.

Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams and establish scalable business development infrastructure.

Experience cultivating complex multi-stakeholder partnerships and managing strategic accounts.

Strong track record of collaboration with senior leadership and ability to influence organizational strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in hematology oncology or related therapeutic areas.

Knowledge of clinical research methodologies and regulatory standards for real-world evidence.

Experience with healthcare data partnerships and clinical informatics.

Deep understanding of enterprise technologies that support business development; experience with Salesforce CRM and experience enforcing data governance best practices preferred.

COMPENSATION & LOCATION INFORMATION

Compensation for this role will reflect a range of factors including relevant experience demonstrated expertise and other considerations. ASHs starting salary estimate for this position is $300000. Additionally ASH also offers a comprehensive benefits package for their employees. ASH has a hybrid work environment in downtown Washington DC whereby eligible positions may work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and all staff report to the office Tuesday through Thursday each week.
