Fixed Term Part Time 7.25 hours/week

St Hildas School Gold Coast invites applications for the following Swim Coach opportunity commencing as soon as possible.

We are seeking an experienced passionate and dedicated Swim Coach to join our thriving swimming program at St Hildas School. We are part of the Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) which is the leading Queensland sports association for secondary school girls. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and coach aspiring young women foster their love of swimming and help them develop their skills confidence and belief that she can be anything.

This position will have a focus on working with our Mini Squadand Junior Developmentswim programs with a focus on advancing technical skills building aerobic fitness and endurance refining all four stroke techniques developing efficient body position starts and turns and introducing competitive training for young swimmers.

Training Session commitment for this position is:

  • Wednesdays 3.45pm 5.45pm (2hrs)
  • Thursdays 3.45pm 5.45pm (2hrs)
  • Fridays 6.00am 7.15am (1.25hrs)
  • Saturdays 6.15am 8.15am (2hrs)

About the Position

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Design implement and evaluate comprehensive swimming programs for competitive and developmental squads
  • Provide expert instruction in all competitive swimming strokes with emphasis on proper technique and efficiency
  • Develop age-appropriate and skill-specific training plans incorporating stroke development starts turns and race strategies
  • Conduct regular training sessions including before school after school and weekend sessions
  • Progressively develop students competitive swimming capabilities from beginner to elite levels
  • Monitor individual student progress and provide encouragement and constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive inclusive and supportive culture that encourages participation and celebrates effort
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for all training sessions
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding training schedules competition opportunities and student progress
  • Ensure all pool activities comply with relevant safety regulations and school policies
  • Maintain current knowledge of water safety standards and emergency procedures
  • Supervise pool areas during all coaching sessions and ensure proper duty of care.

About You

  • Minimum SCTA Development Level Swim Coaching Qualification
  • Pool Lifeguard qualification
  • Demonstrated expertise in coaching competitive swimming strokes at a high standard
  • Minimum 2-3 years coaching experience in competitive swimming environments
  • Passionate about swimming and committed to developing the potential of young athletes particularly young women
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills building positive relationships across students families and staff
  • Understanding of the unique considerations in coaching girls and young women
  • Enthusiasm for creating an inclusive environment where all students feel valued
  • High professional and ethical standards
  • Collaborative team player who contributes to school community.
